String Art in the Studio
Sometimes it’s nice to take a break from portraits and dabble in the arts. This week I was able to experiment with lighting and angles to best capture the work of local rising artist Lee. Lee has been developing a very interesting method of portraiture using cotton and nails, where an image is gradually built up using a series of straight lines. In this case, the subject is Bob Marley. Lee hopes to create prints of his artwork for sale online which is why he brought his artwork to be photographed in the Studio.
Product photography of any sort has its own series of challenges. Although inanimate objects don’t tend to move about like a bouncing toddler, there are other elements to consider, such as packaging shape and texture, conveying scale, and showing the product in question at its very best for sale. Most of my product photography covers products for sale online as well as display for portfolios, so high-quality images are pinnacle, often photographed with a macro lens for extra detail.
Lee is still experimenting with his style and building his portfolio, so I’m looking forward to seeing what he creates next.
