When asked this we tend to sit down, ask the person asking the question to also take a seat and take a few minutes to go over the process. This is what do in order to ensure your wedding photographs are perfect and unique to your special day, in summary:-

- Wedding Enquiry - enquiry comes in via e-mail/phone/in-shop and a price list is sent out.

- Meeting - a meeting is arranged at our shop, whereby sample albums and our portfolio is shown to the happy couple. At this time packages are discussed and, where necessary, tailored to their individual needs.

- Contract Sent Out - the wedding photography contract is sent to their home so they can take time to read it carefully before sending it back.

- Photography Scout – around 1 month before the big day we arrange to meet up at the ceremony and reception venues (where possible) to discuss any ‘must have’ shots and also look for areas for group shots etc. Photographs are taken (as shown below) to create a contact sheet of thumbnail images to take with us to the wedding to streamline the photography.

- Group Shot List - in order to not disturb or panic the bride and groom on the wedding day we request a list of group shots be sent over prior to the wedding, this allows us to simply work down the list to ensure the important shots are all taken.

- Wedding – on the big day we’ll often take 1000+ images in order to capture all the important moments of your wedding, including a few posed shots, detail shots and a lot of ‘snapshot’ reportage shots. We arrive up to one hour before the ceremony is due to take place in order to capture the details and everyone arriving. Also at the wedding, flyers are left for guests to pick up with the login details for the online wedding gallery, to help relieve any additional pressure to the bride and groom from guests requesting the details to access the photo gallery.

- Editing – we take up to 2 weeks to edit the images to ensure every image is perfect. They are then all converted from Colour to Black & White, Sepia and POP to ensure variety and maximum choice available.

When you get comfortable with your SLR you start to have a lot of fun with the way a photograph is taken.

In the Lens Pull, as the shot is being taken the lens is deliberately moved or rotated to create images such as those seen below. There’s a fine line I find between the image looking abstract and the image looking far too blurred.

I always aim to sit on this line and have found around 1/15 is a good shutter speed for Lens Pulls and on this beautiful day the aperture was closed right down to around f/32 (in some of the images)
